A lot of people are very apprehensive about taking herbs but how dangerous are herbs? According to National Poison Control Center, between the years 1983 – 1990 there was only 1 death linked to herb ingestion. That was 1 suspected death in 7 years. Also according to the National Poison Control Center in 1990 there was a reported 2556 deaths from Over The Counter Drugs. According to the National Poison Control Center in 1990 there was a reported 85,000 plus death from prescription drugs.
The 2556 deaths from over the counter drugs and the 85,000 plus deaths from prescription drugs all occurred in 1 year, while the 1 death linked to herbs was over a seven year period.
By the way, the one man who died while taking herbs was also on 4 prescription drugs at the time.
