Sugar substitute, gum, candy, mints and now a new toothpaste. Xylitol has been around for years, some people have avoided it because nearly all xylitol available in the USA is derived from Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) corn.
Since there is so much controversy over GMO foods and information indicating GMO foods producing various health concerns, avoid any product from it, is quite important.
Is there any good Xylitol?
But Nature’s Sunshine has commissioned farmers to raise NON-GMO corn for their source of xylitol.
Studies have shown that Xylitol can actually PREVENT tooth decay, gum disease, sore throats and ear infections.
Chewing the gum helps develop a natural film which makes it difficult for bacteria to attach to your teeth.
There are other facts about xylitol that makes this natural sweetener one of my favorites.
It doesn’t get absorbed easily by the intestines so it doesn’t trigger blood sugar or insulin response … good news for diabetics. It corrects the pH of your saliva which helps prevent tooth decay. It doesn’t leave a bad aftertaste. It can be used in cooking without changing chemically
Xylitol is definitely better than what most people use for a sugar substitute and has many added benefits.
