Mammograms……Really! The dirty details.

Mammograms… oiy don’t get me started. Oops to late, I am already fuming. In my opinion they are one of the mistakes of the established medical profession, AND the biggest rip off.

The vast majority of women who come to me with breast cancer, had done yearly mammograms, but that isn’t how they found their cancer, either they found it or their partner found it.

I had a lady come to me in agony. She lifted up her blouse to expose a blackened breast with gauze at the nipple to catch the blood oozing from it… after effects of a mammogram. That isn’t even considering the radiation of the procedure.

If something abnormal does show up in them, the doctor then usually suggests an ultrasound because it is more accurate…. Then why in the heck don’t they do the ultrasound instead? No radiation and it isn’t painful or dangerous to breast tissue. I don’t believe in ultrasound to fetus, but I know of no studies showing damage to the breast.

Why are they still being used?

There is also something called a thermogram, which measures changes in body (tissue) heat which is also show to be extremely accurate.

Other women have come to be with a scare that they had cancer because of a mammogram, but it turned out to be nothing. I am convinced they are extremely inaccurate at best and harmful at worst.

We as women need to demand the end of mammograms and replace them with the routine use of ultrasounds or thermograms.
